Wornwell - Digital Wardrobe
Last updated: 27 October 2026
Overview
Wornwell - Digital Wardrobe (“the App”), for iPhone and Android, is developed by Saurabh Sharma, an independent developer publishing as techbysaurabh. This policy explains how the App handles your data on both platforms.
In short: Wornwell does not collect, store or share any personal data. Your photos are analysed entirely on your phone. The App has no server and no account, and the only network traffic is with the App Store or Google Play if you buy the unlock.
Data access
Photos on iPhone
- With your permission, the App reads the photos you allow (all photos, or only the ones you select) to find clothes in them.
- Photos are read on your iPhone at reduced size. Photos stored only in iCloud are skipped; the App never asks iOS to download them.
- Photos you add with the photo picker are shared with the App one at a time by iOS and need no library permission.
- The App never modifies, deletes or uploads your photos.
Photos on Android
- The App asks for the Photos and videos permission (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES) to scan your photo library for clothes. You can choose Allow all for the whole library, or Allow limited access (Android 14 and later) so the App sees only the photos you select, like Limited access on iOS.
- You can also grant no photo permission at all and add photos through the system photo picker (up to 20 at a time) or the camera. The picker hands the App only the photos you pick.
- Photos are read on your phone to find clothes. The App never modifies, deletes or uploads your photos.
Camera
- The camera is used only when you choose Take a photo. On iPhone the picture is analysed on the device and is not saved to your photo library.
Photo dates and location
- The App reads each photo's date to show when you wore a garment and which seasons it appears in.
- If a photo has location metadata, the App uses only its latitude to tell northern from southern hemisphere seasons. Locations are never looked up, shown or sent anywhere.
- On Android, reading that metadata needs the media location permission (ACCESS_MEDIA_LOCATION). The App requests it only for this purpose and does not store the location beyond that use.
Image analysis
- On iPhone, finding people and garments, cutting garments out, and working out their type and colours all use Apple's on-device Vision framework.
- On Android, the same work is done by open-source models bundled inside the App and run on the phone with Google's LiteRT runtime: MoveNet (finding people), the MediaPipe selfie segmenter (cutting garments out), EfficientNet-Lite (garment types) and MobileNetV3 (matching the same garment across photos). All are Apache-2.0 licensed. The App does not use Google ML Kit, Gemini Nano or any cloud service.
- No photo or cut-out is sent to Apple's servers, Google's servers or any other server.
Artificial intelligence features
On iPhones with Apple Intelligence turned on, Wornwell uses Apple Foundation Models, which run entirely on the device:
- Descriptions: a garment's type, colours, pattern and dates are turned into a one-line description and style tags.
- Outfit ideas: the model picks outfits from a list of your own garments that the App supplies. Anything it suggests that is not on the list is discarded.
- Search: a question you type is turned into a search filter (types, colours, seasons, dates).
For all AI features:
- The model receives text attributes of your clothes only, never photos.
- All processing happens on your iPhone. Nothing is transmitted to any server, Apple's or otherwise. No third-party AI service is used.
- Generated descriptions are stored with the garment on your iPhone.
- The model is instructed to talk only about the clothes, and never to comment on your body, health or appearance, or mention brands or prices.
On Android
- Wornwell for Android has no equivalent of these features: there are no generated descriptions or outfit suggestions. Ask uses keyword search (colours, types, seasons, dates), and outfits are made from garments worn together in the same photo.
- No language model, on the phone or in the cloud, receives any of your data.
Background scanning
- When you leave the App, scanning continues in the background only while the phone is charging (on Android, as a WorkManager job). It still runs entirely on the phone.
Data storage
- Your catalogue (garments, cut-outs, thumbnails and scan progress) is stored on your phone inside the App's private storage: on iPhone using SwiftData and image files, on Android in the App's private app storage.
- Like other app data, it is included in your phone's own backup if you use one: iCloud Backup or a computer backup on iPhone, Android device backup on Android. That backup is controlled by you and Apple or Google; the developer has no access to it.
- Settings › Export wardrobe creates a .zip of your catalogue and cut-outs (JSON plus every cut-out image) that you can share wherever you choose through the share sheet. Settings › Delete everything removes all of it.
In-app purchase
- The unlock is a one-off in-app purchase (free for up to 100 garments) handled entirely by Apple through the App Store on iPhone, or by Google through Google Play Billing on Android, under their own privacy policies. The developer never sees your payment details, Apple Account or Google account.
- The App contacts the App Store or Google Play only when you open the unlock screen, buy, or restore a purchase. On Android, the Google Play Billing library is not started at launch or during scans; it is created only when you open the unlock screen or tap Restore.
What the App does not do
- No server, no account, no sign-in, no user identifiers.
- No analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, tracking or advertising.
- No third-party SDKs for any of those. On iPhone the binary links only Apple system frameworks. On Android the App bundles the LiteRT runtime and the open-source models named above, plus Google Play Billing for the unlock, and nothing else.
- No data collection, so there is nothing to sell or share.
Children's privacy
Wornwell does not collect any data from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
